Sandra Díaz, a world-class researcher
The researcher is in a ranking of Nature and was one of the most cited of Clarivate Analytics.
For four consecutive years, Sandra Díaz, CONICET senior researcher at the Multidisciplinary Institute of Plant Biology (IMBIV, CONICET-UNC), was mentioned as one of the most influential minds of the world. She is within an elite group that represents 1% of the most cited and referred researchers on her area of study. This ranking is based on the results of the Web of Science platform of the international firm Clarivate Analytics, which collects references from the main scientific publications.
The researcher was recognized as a model in the area of Environment and Ecology for her contributions on the ecology of communities and ecosystems, macroecology, and biodiversity within the context of global environmental change. In the list of the most cited researchers, there are other Argentine scientists: Marcel Aizen of the National University of Comahue –interdisciplinary category- and Rafael Díaz of Latin American Clinical Studies –clinical medicine category.
Furthermore, Sandra Díaz was also mentioned by Nature as one of the five scientists to watch in 2019 for co-leading the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which will published next year. IPBES is the body that brings together more than 150 researchers from the entire world and provides policy makers with objective scientific assessment on biodiversity, ecosystems and their contributions to humanity, apart from the tools and methods to protect them and make sustainable use.
Apart from being a CONICET senior researcher, Sandra Díaz is a full professor at the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba and leads the DiverSus Nucleus of Research on Diversity and Sustainability.
