Resumen:
A biocomposite was developed for Reative Red (RR195) removal from wastewater using fixed-bed column assay. The biocomposite was synthesized using ceramic particles containing 75% alumina which were coated using chitosan crosslinked with oxalic acid. The effect of bed length (Z), flow rate (F), and inlet concentration (C0) were evaluated in a fixed-bed system. The experimental adsorption capacity (qe) for the removal of RR195 dye was high (qe=344 mg.g-1, for Z=5cm, F=3 mL.min-1 and C0=25 mg.L-1). The corresponding breakthrough curves were obtained and mathematically modeled to analyze the phenomena occurring in the adsorption process. Yan's model showed good agreement between the experimental and predicted values along the entire breakthrough curve.
