 This work was focused on studying the changes undergone by heat treated chitosan-based films by monitoring both thermal properties and microstructure. The films submitted to different heat treatments exhibited higher barrier properties, and lower water uptake, solubility and moisture content.  The addition of tannic acid agent prior to curing process became even more perceptible the aforementioned  changes of the films.
