Resumen:
This paper aims to characterize the academic profession in Argentina and its recent changes, considering possible implications of university policies applied during the 90s in the country. In order to identify trends of change, we take two groups of academics, the "young" and "mature", meaning the first group those who got their first academic appointment since 2000 and the latter those who got them before 1984of which would demonstrate greater adaptation to recent policies, unlike oldergenerations, who show greater autonomy from the new regulations. On the basis of the Project Changing Academic Profession (CAP), the two groups of academics responses are analyzed across different variables that can be grouped into 1) personal / social characteristics, 2) professional identity and commitment, and 3) satisfaction with theacademic task.
