The objective of this paper is to trace a panorama of the academic profession (AP) in Argentina, taking as a starting point available preliminary data obtained through the application of the survey to the Argentine case ?The Changing Academic Profession: an International Research Project? (CAP). In order to understand this data it is necessary to place it contextually.  Subsequently some methodological considerations are made concerning the application of the instrument and the design of the sample in order to put forth some preliminary results on the basis of the information obtained to date.  Although it is premature to put forward definitive conclusions, this paper closes with some preliminary conclusions.
