Resumen:
The purpose of this chapter is to provide with some thoughts on the current conditions of governance and participation in Argentina public university, from the view of academics. After locating the problem contextually and making a quick overview of some conceptual framework, we present available data obtained through the implementation of a national representative survey within the CAP Project. The results show a weakening of institutional membership of teachers, either because they are more identified with the discipline or because they consider themselves as having a limited ability to influence the institutional decisions. We believe that these findings are linked to the new academic working conditions configured since the latest reforms of the ´90s, which impacted on the management and governance dimensions of public universities. While it is premature to present any definitive conclusions, these results reinforce the findings of other scarce research in this area, which should continue to be contrasted with ?in deph? studies.
