The successful naturalization process of Lotus glaber Mill. in the Flooding Pampas in Buenos Aires, Argentina, indicates its adaptation to the limited environmental conditions which characterizes the region. Up to now, there has not been the possibility to join preservation and high yields with L. glaber. The participation of technologies users in the experimentation and extension generates more efficiency in the adoption of technological principles and protocols adapted to local conditions. The objective was: (a) to analyze the effect of socio ? economical, cultural, biological and environmental factors to  explain the farmer ? L. glaber relation; (b) to explore the farmers potential in a leading role of the conservation strategies and sustainable use of L. glaber. Work was done simultaneously with qualitative and quantitative data. They were obtained through surveys from 30 farmers. These surveys were based on 4 conceptual components included in the valuation and use of L. glaber: productivity structure, technological level, environmental relation and farmer?s objective function. Multivariate Analysis was applied. The results indicate that the farmers? behavior related to this genetic resource is a consequence of the interaction and influence of socio-economical and cultural factors, but mainly environmental (periodical flooding) and biological (L. glaber adaptation) factors.  It would exist a potential for the application of participative strategies in the in situ conservation and sustainable use of the genetic resource.
