Resumen:
The search of new nanocompositebased on acontinuousmatrix with adiscontinuousfillerphaseis afield ofmaterialtechnology incontinuousprogress.Chitosan (CH)is a cationic polyelectrolyte withability to formbiodegradablefilms. It is possibleto synthesize nanofibersof cellulose(NCC) by removing amorphousregions ofmicrocrystallinecellulose, selectively hydrolyzed by acid. The objectives of this study were:i)to isolatecellulosenanofibers bycontrolled acidhydrolysis andstudy the zetapotentialof the particles, ii)to include NCCin the chitosan formulations and characterize their barrier, mechanical, thermaland structuralproperties. The improvement of solubility and barrier propertieswas due to the formation of an interconnected three dimensional network and thestrong interaction between NCC and CH.
