Resumen:
An alkaline a-L-rhamnosidase produced by an alkalophilic fungal strain,Verticillium tenerum, was expressed in solid state fermentation and partiallypurified by chromatographic methods. The expression of the enzyme isincreased in the presence of its natural substrate, naringin in the culture media. This a-L-rhamnosidase was employed to hydrolyze naringin in alkalineconditions, and it is demonstrated that it is free of b-glucosidase activity, whichis an important feature for the production of prunine and rhamnose, twoindustrially applicable products.
