Resumen:
This paper presents a critique of the Olso Manual based innovationsurveys designs in the software sector, upon a series of Free/Libre Open SourceSoftware (FLOSS) firms case studies. The main objective of this paper is tocontribute to identify the specificities that acquire innovation in FLOSS firmsthat traditional innovation surveys usually omit, to improve actual innovationmeasures and metrics in the software. We applied a qualitative analysis,through a 5 FLOSS case studies of Argentina, aimed to elucidate the nature andparticularities of their innovation processes and outcomes, and thecharacteristics and role of the collaboration with the community in thebusiness model and their innovation strategy.
