Looting and Sensibilities: an interpretative proposal from the episodes in Argentina (2013)

This chapter aims to explain looting in Argentina as a phenomenon associated with a particular politics of sensibilities. Based on this objective, it adopts the following argumentative strategy. First, it explores the available literature linked to the phenomenon of looting; it then reconstructs the ?history of looting? in Argentina from different secondary sources. It goes on to describe the episode that occurred in Cordoba in 2013; and finally develops an interpretation of this episode, using qualitative material (observations and testimonies of actors). It concludes by emphasizing how looting raises the ?non-reason? for particular feeling practices, which can be described in the relationship between flows, mass, anger and vertigo. In conclusion, some directions are synthesized for future analysis.
