Resumen:
This presentation reports on a mixed methods cross-cultural study that examined children?s (n-387) and mothers? (n-200) conceptions of play and of learning and the overlaps between them from Argentina, Denmark, Hong Kong, the UK and the US. The novel methodology that included card sorting, guided questions and teaching puppets to play and learn will be discussed. Findings from the Argentinian and UK data with children aged 5 & 7 will be foregrounded highlighting that, lining up numbers is ?play? and hula hooping is ?learning?. Implications for playful pedagogies are discussed.
