The effect of potassium sorbate addition to polymer matrixes of native corn starch on film properties was evaluated. Films were obtained by casting method from gelatinized starch suspensions (5% w/w) with glycerol (1.5% w/w) and potassium sorbate (0.3% w/w). Active films resulted more yellow than films without sorbate. UV films barrier properties were improve when sorbate was incorporated. It was demonstrated that this additive has and additional effect as matrixes plasticizer. Diffusion kinetic additive to a semisolid medium was studied. It was demonstrated that sorbate matrix incorporation resulted more effective, compared with its application by inmersion or spray methods.
