Resumen:
The aim of this work was to conduct a conceptual approachto self-regulation. Atfirst, certain discrepancies on conceptual definitions and use of semanticallyrelated terms such as self-control, ego depletion, intentional inhibition, etc.are discussed. Then a model of self-regulation is presented in order to help tounderstand the phenomenon not only from the normal functioning but also toaccount for the reasons of regulatory failures. Finally, the causes forregulatory lapses from a neurocognitive model are presented.
