Resumen:
In order to generate information to guide sorghum genotypeselection for methane production, a field trial was carried out in Balcarce,Argentina in the 2018/2019 season, including biomass (no grain) andsilage sorghum hybrids grouped according to the presence or absence ofbmr mutations. Total biomass yield, anatomical fractions (stem, leaf andpanicle), biogas production kinetic parameters (specific biogas productionand biogas production rate), methane content in the biogas and biogasyield were determined. Non-bmr biomass hybrids presented higher totalbiomass and stem yield than bmr biomass hybrids, while non-bmr andbmr silage sorghum did not differ from each other. No effect of bmrmutations was observed in panicle yield. Silage hybrids presented higherspecific biogas production regardless of the presence of bmr mutations, while the biogas production rate was higher in bmr biomass hybrids only.Methane content of biogas was on average 52,93% and did not differedamong hybrids. ADV 2010 hybrid presented the highest biogas yield dueto its higher total biomass yield, even when it presented lower specificbiogas yield. A reduction in biogas yield was observed in bmr biomasshybrids only, attributed to a decrease in biomass yield
