Resumen:
Heat transfer of a water laminar flow across a cylinder at constant temperature, higher than of the fluid, was studied with numerical modeling. Influence of free stream velocity and body temperature over Nusselt number and the convection heat-transfer coefficient were analyzed. A range of velocities between 10e-4 to 10e-2 m/s, and a cylinder wall temperature range of 298.15 to 373.15 K were mployed. The smaller domain which minimizes contour conditions effects was found to be a rectangular domain of 1 x 1 m, for cylinder diameter of 0.2 and .1 m. Simulations were carried employing Finite Element Method (FEM). Flotation effects were not considered and water properties were assumed to change with temperature. Results of simulations were compared with reported correlations. It was found that relative error between the model and reported data were inferior of 22%.
