Resumen:
The floristic study and valorative analysis of the arboreal vegetation of subtropical mountain forests or Yungas which develop in Jordan river middle basin (Jujuy, Argentina) are addressed in thisresearch.Present arboreal species were surveyed and vegetation Interest Conservation (INCON) was determined based on a series of valorative criteria (Phytocenotic, Territorial, Mesological, Ethnobotanical, Perceptual and Didactics) recorded inthe field and taken from available data about the sociocultural aspects of the area. The genera and botanicalfamiliesspecific richness were determined. INCON was obtained from the sum of scoring assigned to each analysed criterion. As a result, 42 arboreal species were identified, for each species status, altitudinal vegetation belt and genus biogeographical origin was set up and their ethnobotanical value was assigned. The INCON obtained (135 points) shows the high natural, ethnocultural, landscape and didactic value of these forests vegetation according to the criteria analysed. The data obtained is an assessment tool of the study area diversity and relevance which can contribute in decision making with conservation purposes. Keywords:floristic composition, vegetation assessment, conservation, Serranía de Calilegua; East of Jujuy.
