Resumen:
Artificial pancreas (AP) algorithms can be dividedinto single-hormone and dual-hormone. Single-hormone algorithmsregulate glycemia using insulin as their control signal. On the other hand, dual-hormone algorithms also use glucagonto counteract insulin. In this work, the original single-hormoneARG algorithm is extended in order to transform it to a dual-hormoneAP controller. This new controller (ARGDH) is evaluatedin silico using the UVA/Padova simulator in the adult population, and contrasted to the ARG algorithm. Results suggest that thedual-hormone ARG effectively improves the ARG performance, eliminating hypoglycemia without increasing hyperglycemia norinsulin delivery, at the cost of increasing the system complexity.
