Resumen:
In mammals, before fertilization the female and male gametes have to travel to the site of fertilization. The transport of spermatozoa at the fertilization site could be assisted by chemotaxis. To fertilize the oocyte, spermatozoa are physiologically prepared during a process called capacitation, and only capacitated spermatozoa are able to respond to a chemotactic attractant. In our laboratory, we developed a method to select and concentrate the sperm. This method called Sperm Selection Assay (SSA) is based on chemical attraction of capacitated spermatozoa. The SSA it has not been tested for bovine frozen-thawed spermatozoa. Here we showed the experimental conditions needed to use the SSA with bovine frozen-thawed spermatozoa.
