Resumen:
The aim of this work was to evaluate the bioavailability of Benznidazole from chitosan microparticles for the treatment of Chagas? disease, in comparison with an aqueous suspension of the same drug. Benznidazole-chitosan microparticles were prepared by the coacervation method in aqueous solution. Chagas? disease is the most prevalent in the poverty neglected parasitic diseases affecting around 20 million people. Benznidazole (BZL) is one of the chosen drugs for the treatment of this infection, caused by the Trypanosoma cruzi. This antiparasite active compound is available in a unique 100 mg tablet presentation and the common dosage is 5-7 mg/kg/day for 30-60 days .
