Resumen:
Wastewater from the pharmaceutical industry often contains organic compounds and drugs that are not efficiently removed from conventional effluent treatment plants. Among the technologies used to remove non-biodegradable organic compounds, so-called advanced oxidation processes (AOP) have emerged. The present work shows the results of testing different operating conditions for the pretreatment of a wastewater model effluent from the pharmaceutical industry through Fenton process. The results allowed to select appropriate conditions to reduce the organic load of the effluent, lower operating costs (temperature and oxidant), markedly increasing its biodegradability and significantly improving the prospects for a biological treatment coupled to AOP.
