Resumen:
The two leaflets of a mammalian cells plasma membrane are made up from chemically distinct mixtures of phospholipids.Three groups of enzymes: flippases, floppases, and scramblases can move lipids from one leaflet to the other. Control over the asymmetric partitioning of phospholipids is critically important to the cells health and functions. A scramblase is a protein responsible for the translocation of phospholipids between the two monolayers of a lipid bilayer of a cell membrane.
