Resumen:
Middle range societies (those betwen the intensive producer and the hunter-gatherer groups) have benn receiving increasing attention as an archaeological research field in the last years in Argentina. In the framework of the ongoing research in the socioecology of smal-scale societies, this work aims to discuss the late Holocene patterns of paleodiet in communities located in Valle Fértil, San Juan (Central-western Argentina) using carbon and nitrogen stable isotope from human and environmental samples. We use isotopic ratios of humans ( from collagen and apatite) and faunal remains (from apatite. We then discuss human consume of C3 and C4 plants, mainly maize (Zea mays) - the herbivores diet,  and an extractive one defined as processor. We finally make analogies at a macro-regional level.
