Resumen:
The proposed study area includes Nevado stratovolcanoand several minor polygenetic volcanoes (e.g. Plateado,Pelado and Los Cerritos). They are situated in the extrabackarcof the Andean Southern Volcanic Zone (SVZ) andbelongs to Payenia volcanic province (34?38°S, Mendoza,Argentina). Basaltic monogenetic cones, smallpolygenetic cones and some big eruptives centers take partof this province.The igneous Nevado rocks have some petrological arc-likesignatures but they are 200 km away from the Andean arcfront.
