Resumen:
Polyphenolic compounds are abundant in fruits, and they are attracting more attention for their biological properties and health benefits. Scientific studies on the beneficial actions of pytotocompounds are indispensable to establish a database for the possible employ in health foods and botanical drug. In our studies, several assays were used to achieve a comprehensive assessment on the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive property of extracts of the fruits of Vaccinium sp, Rubus sp. and Eugenia pyriformes Cambess. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant property of these species made them desirable for dietary prevention of chronic-degenerating diseases such as cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, results of these studies suggest many potential uses for these fruits from one of the Earth?s richest biomes.
