Resumen:
Flavonoids are one of tha main defense lines against UV-B. These radiation absorbing compunds acta as antioxidants, raqducing the reactive oxigen species (ROS) levels. The maize transcriptional factor P (ZmP) regulates the expression of chalcone synthase (CHS) and chalcone isomerase (CHI), two key enzymes of flavonoids biosynthesis. ZmP is expressed in response to UV-B acting as a signal stress molecule. Nitric oxide (NO) also participates in response to UV-B acting as a signal stress moleculeit has been reported that NO regulates the expression of CHS. It has not been reported yet if  the increase of flavonoids is local or systemic and if NO participate in this response
