The alloy was studied to determine the optimum heat treatment condition, the mechanical properties in this condition and the thermal stability of the obtained microstructure at elevated operating temperatures. The microstructure was characterised by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy and the mechanical properties through Vickers hardness and tensile tests at room temperature.The Young?s modulus, being an important factor in the design of mechanical components, was determined by means of mechanical spectroscopy. The Young?s modulus was determined at room temperature using the vibrating reed technique, computerised tomography and finite element method simulation. The ageing process was also analysed by mechanical spectroscopy throughout isothermal ageing treatments at different temperatures. The stability of the obtained microstructure was studied and the elastic modulus determined at a range of different temperatures isothermally.
