Resumen:
The intestinal epithelial is the most extensive surface of the organism exposed to a huge diversity of microorganismsthat inhabit in into the lumen As a consequence the epithelial layer not only serves as a passive physical barrier withexternal environment, intestinal epithelial cells ( sense danger signals and mount a robust immune response tomaintaining intestinal homeostasis?Probiotics are live microorganisms that when administered in adequate amounts confer benefits for the health of thehost?Probiotics modulate the intestinal immune system reinforcing the epithelial barrier and enhancing the local immuneresponse, mainly innate immunity? We have previously demonstrated that lactobacillus increase Paneth cells and intestinal antimicrobial activity inorder to maintain intestinal homeostasis
