The effect of seductive information in MM presentations was examined. Participants read anexpository text with a seductive detail in one of three versions: non-illustrated (Only-Text),with an image linked to the verbal seductive detail (Seductive MM), or with a diagram aimedto promote comprehension (Effective MM). Comprehension and recall outcomes showed thepoorest performance in the Seductive MM group, while the Effective MM condition seemed tomoderate, but not reverse, the seductive detail effect.
