Resumen:
Abstract Amberlite IRA 400 was used to improve lactic acid recovery directly from fermentation. The breakthrough curve was obtained at pH 8.0 in fluidized bed mode giving a binding capacity of 0.358 g lactic acid/g resin. The downstream treatment of the culture broth was performed in a fasten way utilizing an upflow fluidized bed column operating at an ascensional velocity of 720 cm/h. The amount of lactic acid bound on the resin in this work was 0,295 g lactic acid / g resin which means more than twice of the adsorption obtained previously. The lactic acid eluted from the column achieved 67% of lactic acid bound on the resin.
