Resumen:
Collagenis a natural constituent of theextracellularmatrix of tissues. Itis well known that, whenprepared without additives, diluted collagen hydrogels present poor mechanicalproperties limiting their use in tissue engineering. Hence, collagen´s structuralproperties need to be enhanced. For this purpose, this chapter presents anoverview of the recent advances and alternatives developed to improve themechanical properties of collagen biomaterials.
