Resumen:
Interllamelar poly(diphenylsiloxanes) were synthesized to modified the nanostructure of an organophilic clay using two monomers: dimetoxidiphenylsilane and dichlorodiphenylsilane. The following characterizations were performed for all clays: XRD, FTIR y TGA/DTG. Solvent extraction was carried out on siloxane modified clays to analyze the molecular weight of siloxanes via GPC. It was determined the presence of free and grafted oligomers on clay surface. Those modified philosilicates were added in HDPE by melting process to obtain HDPE/clay mixtures. The aim of this work is analyzing how the surface modification of clay sheets affects the rheological behavior of HDPE. Results from oscillatory shear experiments exhibit differences between final materials. Probably, this is caused by the different oligomeric species of poly(diphenylsiloxane) obtained in each clay.
