Resumen:
In this work we study the influence of the variation of height above sea level in combustion. As the pressure and atmospheric temperature decrease with the increase in height, it is analyzed how the lower partial pressure of oxygen affects the efficiency of the combustion process and environmental pollution. The simulation of the natural gas combustion process is carried out through calculation worksheets analyzing the effects of the height on the atmospheric pressure, the composition of oxygen and the variation of the adiabatic flame temperature of natural gas. It is observed that the adiabatic flame temperature decreases with altitude mainly due to the increase in the volume of combustion gases, thus increasing fuel consumption. On the other hand, using the commercial simulator Hysys, the combustion rates of methane, ethane and propane are calculated for different height levels and values of the excess air coefficient, finding that the combustion rate of methane is higher than that of ethane and propane, decreasing with height and excess air. Keywords:
