Resumen:
Polybenzoxazines exhibit interesting properties such as low volume contraction and good thermal and mechanical properties. In order to obtain pre-specified properties in the final materials, chemical structure of the benzoxazine (monomer) can be modified by incorporation of reactive groups and by copolymerization with resins, such as phenolic orepoxy. We focus our attention on developing flame retardant hybrid materials based on a trimethoxysilane functionalized benzoxazine monomer (BA-3aptms) that allows the incorporation of Si-O-Si units in the polymer network. This siloxane group is well known as an effective flame retardant moiety. In this work, the synthesis and characterization of two systems based on BA-3aptms, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and a benzoxazine based on aniline and bisphenol A (BA-a) are studied, in order to evaluate the effect of siloxane groups on the thermal, mechanical and thermomechanical properties of the resulting materials.
