Resumen:
Dichloromethane is a typical indoor pollutant which affects the human health. Heterogeneous photocatalysis is a suitable technology for addressing its control. This article presents a study of the photocatalytic oxidation of DCM in the gas phase, employing a coated mesh, laboratory scale, continuous reactor. The simple geometry reactor and a Langmuir-Hinshelwood explicit kinetic rate expression allowed a straightforward modelling.The Local Superficial Rate of Photon Absorption was evaluated for the catalytic surface based on the superficial emission model and the ray tracing method.Experimental runs conducted by modification of the main operating variables were introduced in the mathematical model and the kinetic parameters could be obtained by nonlinear optimization algorithm.
