Resumen:
The photocatalytic inactivation of Bacillus subtilis spores over glass rings coated with TiO2 Aeroxide P-25 was studied. Assays were carried out under UV-A radiation employing glass rings with 1, 2 and 3 catalyst coatings. The thickness of the films and the mass of TiO2 per cm2 of support was determined. Experimental results were fitted with an exponential first-order kinetic equation. Significant inactivation of B. subtilis spores was obtained when they were irradiated over TiO2-coated glass rings. Maximum inactivation rate was obtained with 3 coatings (k=0.307 h-1).
