Resumen:
Several aspects of the numerical approach to bounded control problems in the linearquadratic regulator context are illustrated and discussed. The main purpose of the paper is to substantiate new appropriate tools to treat high-dimensional problems arising from systems governed by the classical linear partial differential equations. These new strategies are based on recent results concerning the relationship between restricted and unrestricted problems. Different techniques are applied, in on-line and off-line setups, to low-dimensional casestudies for which the exact solutions are known, and the difculties for them to be extended to the boundary control of the heat equation in a rectangular domain are assessed.
