Resumen:
The
capillary flow in nanoporous anodic alumina membranes is studied by an optical
method. The experiments consist of measurements of reflectance variations in
time produced by the change in the optical path as a result of liquid
imbibition in the porous membranes. A fluid dynamic model based on classical
fluid mechanics is proposed to describe how the liquid flows through the porous
matrix and a simple optical scheme is used to analyze the interference pattern.
Both the physical properties of the fluid and the main morphological characteristics
of the porous matrix can be evaluated by using this model.
