Resumen:
In this work, rice husk ash was used to obtain a high purity silica precursor to synthesize mesoporous silica frameworks. Ni-based catalysts supported over MCM-41 and mesostructured cellular silica foam (MCF) were obtained using two methods, one-pot and incipient wetness impregnation and, they were evaluated in the CO2 methanation reaction.For Ni supported on MCF, a selectivity toward CH4 of 100% was reached at 400 °C, and also a higher CO2 conversion. An excellent structure and catalytic stability, as well as coke resistance, were obtained under the reaction conditions. The higher catalytic activity could be related to the homogeneous distribution of Ni nanoparticles over supports.
