Resumen:
The increasing pollution of water around the world is an important issue and its contamination regulations are being stricter nowadays. Nitrate and nitrite ions are among the water pollutants to be removed. There are several methods to reduce the nitrate and nitrite concentrations; one of them is the catalytic denitrification, in which bimetallic and monometallic catalysts are used for removing nitrate and nitrite ions, respectively. Besides, coating the monolith walls with those catalysts could be an interesting way to anchor the catalytic particles and to have the advantage of the monolith structure. The aim of this work is to obtain a coating of Pd/Al2O3 onto cordierite monolith walls and evaluate its catalytic properties for the nitrite reduction of water.
