Resumen:
appearance of restrictions imposed to the emissions of harmful gases from mobile sources and also due to its application to the purification of hydrogen for use in power cells. Several catalyst formulations have been tested for this purpose (i. e., supported noble metals) [1] and lately, as less-expensive alternatives, other supported oxides have been investigated [2]. In this way, due to their redox properties, supported cobalt oxides-containing catalysts have been the object of research in the environmental catalysis field [3].While most of the studies concerning CO preferential oxidation have been performed using powder catalysts, it is recognized that structured catalysts are necessary in this type of reactions for practical applications [4]. ZrO2 and CeO2 powders were selected in order to washcoat cordierite monoliths and to disperse cobalt oxide (main species Co3O4).
