Resumen:
Egg-shell catalysts are employed in industrial reactions when mass transfer limitations must beeliminated or when heat transfer is to be maximized. For this reason egg-shell catalysts areadvantageously used in selective hydrogenation reactions. Manufacture of egg-shell materials isnot an easy task and several variables are to be considered (viscosity, solution pH, temperature,etc.). The synthesis of a new composite support for preparing egg-shell catalysts ispresented here. The support has a high mechanical resistance and enables the easy deposition ofactive metals on a thin superficial layer.
