Resumen:
Electrolessplating has been defined as a controlled autocatalytic deposition of acontinuous layer on a catalytic surface by the reaction of a complex compoundand a chemical reducing agent.  Thismethod allows the easy preparation of films using simple equipment and any typeof support with low thickness.  Palladium-based layers are able to separatehydrogen selectively because of the high solubility and diffusivity of hydrogenatoms in their lattice. The electroless deposition and characterization ofPd-based binary and ternary alloys are discussed taking into account theirsuperior properties concerning hydrogen permeability and/or chemicalresistance.
