Resumen:
Welcome from the ANNSIM?21 Conference ChairsOn behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to ANNSIM?21, the 2021 Annual Modeling and Simulation Conference, organized by the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS), which is the World?s first-born international Modeling and Simulation (M&S) society. SCS, from its foundation in 1952, has effectively engaged our community and continues to play a significant role in advancing modeling and simulation research and its contribution to practice.ANNSIM?21 is a fully virtual event due to the preferences of participants as well as continuing limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual conference brings important changes to the conference organization. We decided to organize the daily conference in a limited time interval to accommodate different participant time zones. Paper presentations include pre-recorded videos and live questions & answers. Presentations´ time has been shortened, and the number of parallel tracks was reduced to two to improve online engagement. We have an exciting program to offer our attendees this year, including two keynote speeches delivered by world-renown experts in modeling and simulation, presentations of peer-reviewed original research papers, several tutorials, and an online social event featuring poster presentations. This year?s conference consists of the following tracks: AI and Simulation (chaired by Joon-Seok Kim and Andreas Züfle), Annual Simulation Symposium (chaired by José Luis Risco Martín and Erika F. Frydenlund), Communications and Networking Simulation (chaired by Abdolreza Abhari and Ala?a Al-Habashna), Cyber Physical Systems (chaired by Umut Durak and Claudio Gomes), Emerging Topic ? Aspects of Pandemic Modeling (chaired by Andreas Tolk and Jiangzhuo Chen), High Performance Computing and Simulation (chaired by Philip Wilsey and Sounak Gupta), Humans, Societies, and Artificial Agents (chaired by Philippe J. Giabbanelli and Andrew Crooks), Modeling and Simulation based Systems Engineering (chaired by Andrea D?Ambrogio and Gregory Zacharewicz), Modeling and Simulation for Smart Energy Systems (chaired by James Nutaro and Ozgur Ozmen), Modeling and Simulation in Cyber Security (chaired by Sachin Shetty and Danda Rawat), Modeling and Simulation in Medicine (chaired by Minsik Hong, Jerzy W. Rozenblit, and Johannes Sametinger), Theory and Foundations for Modeling and Simulation (chaired by Gabriel Wainer and Andrea Vandin), Tutorial Track (chaired by Joachim Denil), and M&S Poster & Demo Track (chaired by Salim Chemlal and Mohammad F. Obeid). We would like to express our sincere gratitude to track chairs, as well as to the technical program committee and reviewers for their time and expertise, and for the effort spent during the rigorous peer reviews process, which made it possible to set up a program of selected and high-quality presentations. We also express our gratitude to authors and tutorial and poster presenters for submitting their work to ANNSIM?21.
