Resumen:
This work addresses the model-based optimization of hybrid processes for carbon capture from power plants flue gases combining chemical absorption and membrane systems. The main goal of the paper is to investigate the influence of the total CO2 recovery on the optimal design and operating conditions of the whole process when the total annual cost (TAC = OPEX + annualized CAPEX) is minimized. The contribution of each process to the total annual cost is discussed in detail.
