Resumen:
The integration of continuous glucose monitoringand subcutaneous insulin delivery technologies with novel controlstrategies, has brought closer the development of the ArtificialPancreas (AP). However, due to its condition of a safetycriticalsystem makes online control performance monitoringof paramount importance for safe, yet optimal operation. Just afew works have reflected the importance and feasibility of implementingonline performance monitoring in the face of unplannedevents and abnormal glycemic variability. Control performancemonitoring is implemented based on a Bayesian surprise indexto detect functional degradation and guarantee adequate controlof glycemic levels. A glucoregulatory system facing the effect offaults and abnormal glycemic variability is evaluated against anoptimal specified behavior under uncertainty. Timely detectionof performance degradation highlights the sensitivity of the indexto detect deviations from a specified system behavior.
