Resumen:
In this paper a methodology for MSF process optimization taken into account process availability, preventive maintenance policies and temporary variation of failure velocity will be presented. In fact, a MINLP model developed previously by Scenna et al. (2007) [1] which only takes into account the availability process is appropriately reformulated to introduce the preventive maintenance policies and temporary variation of failure velocity as optimization variables. Given a process model and cost data, the process optimal operative conditions, and the optimal equipment allocation in stand-by units when necessary are obtained from the proposed mathematical model. The concepts introduced here can be generalized to any chemical or industrial processes.
