Resumen:
We have previously shown that GHSRmodulates pre-synaptic CaV?mediatedneurotransmitter release by two independentmechanisms signaling through two differentcellular pathways: a rapid, Gq-dependent andreversible one, mediated by ghrelin binding tothe GHSR, and a chronic one, mediated by aGi/o-dependent reduction of CaV2 membranedensity due to GHSR constitutive activity, depending on β auxiliary subunit presence.GHSR is highly expressed pre- and postsynapticallyin the CNS controlling bodyhomeostasis-related neurons Ghrelin cannot freely enter the brain, whichmakes GHSR constitutive activity speciallyrelevant in areas as the hippocampus, with lowghrelin access but high receptor expression. Here we aim to study GHSR constitutive activity impact on synapticactivity at hippocampal cultured neurons.
