Resumen:
Sandy beaches are multifunctional system where natural, socioeconomic and management components join together. New threats associated with global changes are forcing a fundamental reassessment of beach management. This document describes examples from the Atlantic coastal region of Argentina in them strategies according to integrated costal management systems were implemented. Results showed that implemented programs were successful because they conceived beaches as multidimensional environmental systems, where nature and society interact. They succeeded to build understanding and a strong political alliance among the various concerned community sectors.
