By default, ASN deamidation is conceived as a degradative reaction that is detrimental for protein function and stability.Exceptionally, deamidation gains importance in biologics and vaccine development when deamidating-prone Asn residues are located, by chance, in protein-protein binding interfaces or in antigenically relevant epitopes that critically affect protein performance.
